Senior Library Specialist- Branch Supervisor, Engineering Library

Salary is $33,336+ per year, negotiable depending on qualifications

The University of Texas Libraries seeks an innovative and energetic Branch Supervisor to manage all day-to-day operations of the McKinney Engineering Library, and to liaise with other library units including cataloging, acquisitions, and facilities, as well as departments supported by the library.

Essential Functions:   Manage all day-to-day operations of the McKinney Engineering Library. Liaise with other library units including cataloging, acquisitions, and facilities, as well as departments supported by the library.

REQUIRED Qualifications: High school graduation or GED. Four years of applicable library work experience performing paraprofessional library functions with increasing progression of responsibilities. Demonstrated ability to work in a multi-tasking environment while maintaining attention to detail. Supervisory experience. Experience with integrated library system (ILS). Experience staffing a service desk. Willingness and ability to interact in a professional manner with UT students, faculty and staff, and the public. Willingness and ability to communicate with patrons from diverse populations using diplomacy and discretion at all times. Demonstrated ability to effectively make decisions. Demonstrated ability to manage workflows and problem solve. Demonstrated ability to exercise initiative. Demonstrated strong work ethic. Demonstrated excellent communication (written and oral) and organizational skills. Ability to maintain scheduled hours. Ability to work with limited supervision and as a member of a team. Strong customer service skills. Ability to work on multiple overlapping projects. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

PREFERRED Qualifications: Bachelor's degree. More than four years of applicable library work experience. Direct experience related to job functions. Demonstrated evidence of motivation and initiative. Demonstrated strong customer service skills. Experience with Sierra ILS. Demonstrated flexibility in structuring duties. Strong organizational, administrative, and supervisory skills; demonstrated by previous employment experience. Evidence of experience and skills with windows computer hardware, software, and peripherals. Knowledge of LC classification scheme. Experience performing circulation functions and providing reference services in an academic library. Experience with shifting and space planning. Experience with RFID circulation. Experience using Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.). Experience troubleshooting catalog problems and computer hardware/software. Experience opening/closing library facilities. Experience multitasking in a fast-paced environment.

Salary and Benefits: $33,336 annually or more, depending on qualifications and experience. No state or local income tax. Standard state benefits package including annual vacation and sick leave, paid holidays, retirement plans, and health insurance options (comprehensive major medical plans, dental, vision, life, and disability). Deferred compensation and tax sheltered annuity programs also available.
