ALA and REFORMA create Adopt a Library program to assist libraries in the Caribbean

Hurricanes Irma and Maria devastated much of the Caribbean and libraries were not spared. The American Library Association (ALA) is partnering with REFORMA on an Adopt a Library Program to match damaged or destroyed libraries in the region with libraries in the United States and elsewhere that would like to assist in their recovery.

RNCVI Conference Cancelled

Dear Reformistas:

After much consideration and conversations with the RNC VI Steering Committee and conference hotel, we need to cancel RNC VI in San Juan Puerto Rico. The National Weather Service declared a Hurricane Watch over Puerto Rico from Tuesday to Thursday. Hurricane Irma is set to pass by the Island during these days. The local government cancelled school classes and work was cancelled for the public employees. This is the biggest travel day for attendees and your safety is our concern.

RNCVI Update Regarding Hurricane Irma

The REFORMA Conference Committee is closely monitoring the situation with Hurricane Irma in the Atlantic Ocean. As information becomes available, it will be shared on the conference website. There is currently no indication that the storm will directly hit Puerto Rico. The hotel is prepared with generators, a water system, and an emergency hurricane plan.
